  • 3 pounds pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. Create a dry rub by mixing salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika in a bowl.
  2. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and generously apply the dry rub all over.
  3. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke to make the cooking liquid.
  4. Place the seasoned pork in your slow cooker and pour the cooking liquid over it.
  5. Cover and cook on low for at least 8 hours or until tender.
